Ingredients

  • Ground Turkey: A leaner alternative to beef, providing plenty of protein without the extra fat.
  • Breadcrumbs: Helps bind the meatloaf together while adding a subtle crunch.
  • Onion Powder and Garlic Clove: These seasonings add depth and a savory flavor that complements the turkey beautifully.
  • Milk and Egg: Work together to keep the meatloaf moist and tender.
  • Ketchup and Worcestershire Sauce: Provide a tangy sweetness and a burst of umami, enhancing the overall flavor of the dish.
  • Salt and Pepper: Essential for seasoning and bringing out the natural flavors of the turkey.

Variations

  • Cheesy Delight: Add a layer of shredded cheddar in the middle of the meatloaf for a cheesy surprise.
  • Veggie-Packed: Mix in finely chopped bell peppers or spinach to add nutrients and color.
  • More Breading: If you want to change things up even more, add crushed saltine crackers instead of the breadcrumbs.

Tips for the Perfect Turkey Meatloaf

  • Don’t Overmix: Mix just until the ingredients are combined to avoid a dense meatloaf.
  • Don’t Overpack: When creating the meatloaf, don’t pack it super hard. Lightly pack the meatloaf just to be able to make the shape and keep the form.
  • Let It Rest: Allowing the meatloaf to rest before slicing helps the meat retain its juices, making it more flavorful and moist.
  • Checking Doneness: Ensure the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
