Equipment

  • 1 Air Fryer

Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup mayonaise
  • 1 Tablespoon sriracha
  • 2 Tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • sliced green onions and sesame seeds to garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C).
  • Prepare 1 pound shrimp by peeling, deveining, removing the tails, patting them dry with a paper towel, and then lightly seasoning them with salt and pepper to taste.
shrimp cleaned and placed on a surface ready to be seasoned.
  • Set up your breading station with 1/3 cup all purpose flour, 2 eggs beaten, and 1 cup panko breadcrumbs in three separate plates or shallow bowls.

  • One by one, dip each shrimp into the flour, then the egg, and then the breadcrumbs until fully coated. Repeat through the egg and breadcrumbs for a thicker coating.
  • Place your shrimp into the air fryer basket in a single layer and air fry for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through. You may have to air fry in batches depending on the side of your air fryer to avoid the shrimp overlapping.
  • While the shrimp are air frying, make your bang bang sauce by combining the 1/2 cup mayonaise, 1 Tablespoon sriracha, 2 Tablespoons sweet chili sauce, and 1 teaspoon soy sauce and stir until fully combined.
  • Remove the shrimp from the air fryer and toss with the bang bang sauce until fully coated.

Notes

Bang bang shrimp is usually served as an appetizer, but it would also work great in a rice bowl, shrimp tacos, or lettuce wraps.
Leftover shrimp can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days, and the bang bang sauce can be stored in the fridge for about a week. If you wish to freeze the shrimp, this can be done in a freezer safe container for up to 3 months.
The shrimp can be reheated in the air fryer at 360 degrees for 3-5 minutes. If reheating from frozen, defrost in the fridge overnight and then air fry at 360 for 3-5 minutes.
